TRIAD Prevention Program
TRIAD Prevention Program is a consortium of three county agencies working together to coordinate their resources to serve youth at-risk. The three public agencies are  Protective Services, Juvenile Probation Department, and Mental Health/Mental Retardation Authority.

Pre-adjudication Team (PAT) & Court Services
The Pre-adjudication Team (PAT) provides intensive supervision to juvenile offenders who can be released from detention to await their court date Juvenile Detention Centers. Once the District Attorney’s office has filed a petition, the court  services staff prepares a comprehensive profile of a juvenile and the case.

Intake Screening
Harris County law enforcement officers may take a juvenile to one of two 24-hour intake units of the Juvenile Probation Department which are located at CRC and the Juvenile Detention Center.  Intake Screening is responsible for assessing immediate circumstances and deciding if the youth is to be detained or released.

Judges can order youth to participate in assessment/treatment of mental health services through MHMRA as part of their rules of probation.

Deferred Prosecution
The court offers Deferred Prosecution to juveniles who are younger, non-violent offenders. The program guides them through six months of specialized programs, intensive counseling and supervision aimed at avoiding adjudication and diverting them from the juvenile justice system.

Probation Services
Most juveniles who go through the court system remain at home under probation supervision. The time period is usually one year but the courts may lengthen probation time to age 18.
