The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department
employs staff for a variety of services.
To
be a Juvenile Probation Officer, a bachelor's degree in
Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field is required.
Also, one year of full time experience is required in
casework, counseling, education, corrections or a therapeutic
setting. 18 hours of college credits towards a Master’s Degree
in human services or a related field eliminates the need for
the one-year of experience.
Juvenile Supervision
Officer positions require a High School Diploma or GED and a
minimum age of twenty one. BA/BS degree in behavioral sciences
and experience working with children preferred. The
Harris County Juvenile Probation Department operates a
Leadership Academy, a Detention Center, a secure residential
treatment center and a non-secure residential treatment
center.
Staff Services (Secretarial) and Support Staff positions do
not require a college degree, and may be located at any of the
various facilities and offices throughout the County.
Certified and Non-Certified Teachers
and Substitute Teachers are employed in our Charter Schools
and JJAEP.
RNs and LVNs
are employed in our Detention Center and other facilities.
