The Juvenile Mental Health Court is a voluntary, specialized,
diversionary court program for families of justice system
involved youth with mental health problems. Our goal is to
promote public safety by providing services and treatment for
youth whose mental health problems contributed to the commission
of an alleged offense. With the successful completion of
treatment/education programs, it is hoped the youth is less
likely to have future involvement in the justice system. A
secondary goal is to link families to systems of care in the
community and help foster longer term relationships that
continue independent of the court.
Congratulations to the First Graduating
Class!On September 27, 2009 the Harris County Juvenile Mental
Health Court celebrated their first graduation. Four youth and
their families have successfully completed six months of
extensive court and service provider requirements. An audience
of family, Juvenile Probation personnel, county officials and
community partners was there to express support. The link below
