The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department employs staff for a variety of services.

To be a Juvenile Probation Officer, a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field is required. Also, one year of full time experience is required in casework, counseling, education, corrections or a therapeutic setting. 18 hours of college credits towards a Master’s Degree in human services or a related field eliminates the need for the one-year of experience.

Juvenile Supervision Officer positions require a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum age of twenty one. BA/BS degree in behavioral sciences and experience working with children preferred.  The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department operates a Leadership Academy, a Detention Center, a secure residential treatment center and a non-secure residential treatment center.

Staff Services (Secretarial) and Support Staff positions do not require a college degree, and may be located at any of the various facilities and offices throughout the County.

Certified and Non-Certified Teachers and Substitute Teachers are employed in our Charter Schools and JJAEP.

RNs and LVNs are employed in our Detention Center and other facilities.
