The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department employs
staff for a variety of services.
To be a Juvenile Probation Officer, a bachelor's degree in
Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field is
required. Also, one-year of experience is required in
casework or a therapeutic setting. A Master’s Degree in
human services or a related field eliminates the need for
the one-year of experience.
Juvenile Supervision Officer positions require 60 hours of
college from an accredited college or university and a
minimum age of twenty one. BA/BS degree in behavioral
sciences and experience working with children preferred.
The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department operates a
Leadership Academy, a Detention Center, a secure residential
treatment center and a non-secure residential treatment
center. Secretarial and Support Staff positions do not
require a college degree.
